Alternative Dispute Resolution CMS in an attempt to better resolve beneficiaries complaints have added alternative dispute resolution techniques to case review as tools to address concerns raised by Medicare beneficiaries. These tools can be used to resolve beneficiary complaints that do not meet the definition of confirmed quality of care concerns. CMS now uses of three types of alternative dispute resolution: mediation, facilitated resolution, external resolution.
